William Rankin (Bob) Riddle was born on December6,1030. He was the third of five sons born to Raymond Penilton Riddle Sr. and Olga Belle Lewis Riddle. Bob graduated form Lansing Eastern High School in 1948. Bob served in the U.S. Army, honorably discharged in 1953, returning to Lansing with his bride, Christine Velma Dixon Riddle.
Bob worked as a master bricklayer, learning the skilled trade from his Dad during the 50’s and 60’s before joining the Urban League's Labor Education Advancement Program (LEAP) in Lansing and Flint. (LEAP) focused on preparing minority youth for placement into the skilled trades industry. In the 70’s Bob worked for the U.S. Department of Labor/Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, in Detroit, until his retirement in 1996.
Bob was an avid hunter, he enjoyed bowling and loved boating, especially water skiing in his younger days. His “calling” was serving others, going “above and beyond” to help when needed. In his later years he enjoyed watching daily westerns. Bob was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Christine Riddle, Brothers Rexford Riddle, Raymond P. (Bud) Riddle Jr. and Ralph E. Riddle Sr. Bob was blessed to love again with Margie Solomon.
He leaves; Brother Reginald Riddle, Sister-in-law Miriam Riddle, Sons Robert R. Riddle, Deron J. (Edwina) Riddle, Daughter Velma K. Riddle. Grandchildren Jonathan Pruitt, Deron Riddle II, Jaden Riddle, Haywood Liggett IV, Caleb Liggett, Kaira Liggett, Jeremiah Liggett, Grace Liggett, Tim (Jeanie) Cooper, Lenora (Lee) Nim, Aimee’ Halstead, Aaron Nim, Aubree Nim, Averie Nim, and extended family, Ruthie Payno-Simmons and a host of Riddle/Dixon/Solomon nieces, nephews and cousins.
