On behalf of the Joseph family, I extend my deepest, deepest condolences to Mrs. Gittens and to Ramon. May you find comfort in the gift of having known and loved Mr. Gittens and having been loved so much by him. ❤
There are some people who are just meant to be teachers - it is undoubtedly their vocation in life. Their calling. Mr. Gittens was one such person. When he first came to Pine Primary, he was exactly what we needed at the time. His dedication to our success never wavered and he constantly pushed us to do better. Deportment, respect and reverence were as much a part of his curriculum as academics. His life lessons were countless and I can say without apology that Sir's influence is the reason many of us have made it to where we are today. He used his own childhood stories to teach us and made sure he paid special attention to the boys in our class, challenging them to always be and do better. By the time the Common Entrance Exam came around, we were ALL outperforming ourselves.
Sir set the bar high for every other teacher I would eventually encounter on the rest of my academic journey and though I have come to appreciate many, he was and always will be my favourite. Rest in eternal peace Mr. Gittens. You have been a good and faithful servant to so many and we have nothing but gratitude for you and the life you lived. You will absolutely be missed.
