Rev. Solomon Olanrewaju Oresanya was born 23 August 1937, and attended Ago Iwoye Secondary School, Ago Iwoye before proceeding to Olu Iwa college, Ijebu Ode.
He moved to Lagos in the early 1960s and joined the Ministry of Mines and Power Civil Service at entry level. He attended many courses and seminars, worked with various ministries under the Federal Government, and rose to the level of Director and Chief Internal Auditor before he retired in 1995 from the Ministry of Mines, Power and Steel. While working with the Federal Government, he traveled to every state of the federation. One of the memorable journeys was when he was in the plane that was hijacked and taken to the Niger Republic during the Abacha era but miraculously survived and came back safely. He founded CPGC in June 1986 as a prayer group (Christ Progressive Prayer Group) and this later metamorphosed into a church (Christ Progressive Gospel Church) by 1987, and he was General Overseer till 2019 when he retired to become the spiritual leader until he passed on. Rev. S.O. Oresanya is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
