I was shocked to hear the news. I had the honour of being one of his earliest post-grad students starting in 1988 (I think joint third). In fact, Sir Shankar took over my project. At the time we were a very small group of around four people. Chris was invariably friendly and knowledgeable. I remember well a games evening which he and Katherine hosted at their house. Unfortunately, I last saw him at a Christ's alumni reunion many years ago, when he failed to recognise me, but was very interested in potentially taking advantage of some insider knowledge about my company at the time. Entrepreneurial as ever. He will be missed. My deepest commiserations to his family and friends.
