Such terribly sad and shocking news. My deepest sympathies to Katherine and Daniel.
I always enjoyed the extensive conversations I often had with Chris about his work and his multiple and various interests outside of his PVC role. The best conversations always started with the words ‘shut the door and pull up a chair’! We talked about Santiago de Compostela on a few occasions. I had never been but I planned to visit one day. Chris knew it very well; he would often attend meetings and speak at university chemistry symposiums when he visited and he seemed to be very fond of the place, the food and the people he met when he was out there. The last time we talked about it he had not long returned from a trip and he had very kindly brought me back a piece of pottery - he told me that I now need to go there and discover it for myself!
Chris, as soon as it is safe to do so, I will be booking that trip!
