On behalf of the Russell Group Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Research group, representing 24 Universities, I would like to express our deep sadness at the sudden passing away of our colleague Chris.
At the regular meetings of our Group, Chris was highly respected for his wise presence, his energy and his curiosity. We all knew that he was a brilliant chemist, but it was also clear to us that he was an outstanding Pro-Vice-Chancellor and always seemed to be on top of the national agenda. He was never afraid to challenge, and he was highly in tune with the UK academic community. We will miss Chris and his contributions sorely and send our condolences to his family and close friends.
