It seems impossible that he is no longer with us. I will always be grateful to Chris for the incalculable ways he supported me both professionally and personally over the last 20 years from summer student to independent academic. Always smiling, engaging and caring, he was the very model of what a modern creative scientist, entrepreneur and administrator should be. He will be greatly missed by all, not least myself and Vicky.
