I first knew Petra when she was a postgraduate student at Stirling University with my old colleague and friend the late John Proctor. It was not until many years later that we met again and I really got to know her. She was an outstanding scientist with huge personality and enthusiasm and energy. Her legacy will surely be carried on with all those who have worked with her. My deepest and most sincere condolences to Luis and family. Petra will be sorely missed by so many.
