To Petra beloved ones:
In these moments of great loss, there are no correct words that can be said. In fact, I am a stranger to you all, I only had the privilege of meet Petra, and, because of that, I don’t even know what to tell you that would comfort you a little. However, despite my hesitation, I would like to tell you that it would be impossible to know Petra, even professionally, and not feel touched by her kindness and sympathy, to work with her and not recognize her competence, scientific knowledge and capacity to engage different people to a common objective. In a very discreet way, she was a leader, the kind of leader that we all like to work with. So, the only idea that occurs to me in this moment of great loss, of such an incredible person, is given in a sentence of the lyric of a Portuguese song from Trovante (125 Azul): “But God takes those He loves; Only God has the ones he loves the most”. We will all miss her. She will continue in our heart and in our work.
