Lovely Pierre, oh how we shall miss you. Truly one of life's wonderful men who had such an aura of warmth, calm and the right kind of authority: one that was knowledgeable but gentle & kind. Who always had a moment to stop, smile, and chat. I love that your office nicknames were Pedro or Pierre. And that whenever planning an event you would remind me how much you hated fish (despite having told me 100 times, and despite my bemusement at how someone who grew up by the sea could have such a loathing). From my early days at JC as marketing manager- being the point person for private client tax- and thus being invited as a guest to your team Christmas lunches, to working late on the Budget (‘some of this is really boring isn’t it Kirsty’) to me frequently asking your opinion on current affairs or help explain something in politics: you always showed such kindness to me and were genuinely a pleasure to be around. I suspect you had no idea of the fondness we all felt for you but I hope these stories of our fondness are of some degree of comfort to your family: we know that JC’s loss is incomparable to theirs and it is to them we send much love & light x
