Peter Sheen

March 25, 1928 - May 5, 2020

Peter was a generous and loving father, brother, grandfather and friend. Tenacious and energetic throughout most of his life, Peter's out-going personality, compassion for others, warmth and character brought him admiration and respect wherever he went. A raconteur with a wicked sense of humour, Peter's life has been rich and full and he enjoyed sharing the tales of his adventures with us all. We will miss him so much.

EULOGY: This takes the form of a short letter from Mandy, Merril & Gill. Dearest Dad, Thank you for being our beloved Papa. We're so grateful to you for so many things and our lives have been enriched by your presence. You've been a generous and loving Father to us our whole lives - never wavering in your loyalty and protection and we thank you for being with us for so long! We want to thank you for giving us a pioneer spirit, a love of travel and adventure, of pushing boundaries and challenging norms! Thank you, Dad, for imparting in us a love of family, friendship and community. For passing on to us your compassion for others, your outgoing personality and your absolute loyalty to those you value. Thank you for being a loving brother to Phil and Mike, a doting Grandad to your ten beloved Grandchildren and a loyal friend to many. Thank you for passing on to us your love of history, your fascination with the past and the thrill of discovering old railway tracks and the nostalgic whistle of a steam train. Thank you for encouraging us to believe in ourselves and to be strong, self-sufficient and resolute in our lives. We're grateful you were such a hilarious character of a man! Your warmth, sense of fun and wicked sense of humour we can only hope to match! Thank you for passing on and living to the fullest one of your favourite themes - a quote from General Douglas McArthur: 'Age is not a time of your life - it's a state of mind." And thank you, Dad, for trusting us towards the end of your life with your quiet faith, your vulnerability and your frailty. You were - and are - and always will be - an inspiration. All our love, Mandy, Merril and Gill xxxxxx
