Papa- there are so many wonderful memories I have of you! As young children we loved being in the garden and pointing at a plane and asking you- “ where is that plane going to?” And you would say the names of different countries! You were always the person to ask questions to and I learnt so many things from you and caught your love for travel and adventure and transport!! I was so proud of having a Dad who took us on adventures abroad or motorcycle club runs that I think my school friends were jealous and fed up with my boasting!
When I was 21 and on a clinical placement in Oxford- you arrived on my doorstep and all I could see were flowers and your feet- the bouquet was so huge! It was a lovely surprise!
Although I loved the very active and busy Dad who took us to night clubs in London and I loved your dancing- I cherished also the slower pace as you got older in recent years and after your stroke- walking with you to the duck pond holding your hand.
I loved driving you in your car and following your precise instructions and directions!
We loved celebrating New Year with you in Derbyshire this year and I drove you home and we sang songs all the way- for hours and chatted! Wonderful precious memories - thank you Papa for enriching my life and our families lives and so many people who you were a father figure to! Gilly xx
