With all his scientific work Owe Axelsson contributed substantially to the field of Numerical Analysis in its broad sense. He is among the first to introduce and analyse preconditioning techniques for various classes of matrices with elegant and simple ideas, mathematical rigor, striving and achieving numerical and computational efficiency. He was strategic thinker, very good organizer, hard worker but also kind, supportive and friendly with colleagues, students and coworkers. With his life Owe left us an example of honesty, ethics, recognition, kindness, help and care!
