His life was a book on human conditions - So elegantly written and so understanding of our embedded concerns, so useful for our lives that every time anyone met Vijay, they came back enriched. He used to deal with all life's issues with tremendous courage, logic, conviction and compassion and has made an indelible impact in all the lives that he touched He was a model of dignity and humility in every walk of life and he kept raising the bar with every challenge thrown at him. This pious and unblemished soul is resting peacefully on the uppermost echelon of heaven, smiling at and blessing us all....

Reminiscing Sir/Saahab Om Namah Shivay I remember Sir as a very sonorous,jovial and intellectual.Whenver I would discuss any topic with him and Kanchan ji,it would be a never ending discussion,ranging from Sanskrit,Indian languages and world politics.My four years of acquaintance has left an indelible impression in my heart and mind.I cannot believe that I will not be able to meet,share or talk with him at the physical level.In my 27 years of teaching career,I have never come across a couple as perfect as Sir and Kanchan ji,and my ideal student Aryal.When I go to teach anywhere I love to see noble human beings,and that nobility I found in Sir.Kanchan ji and Aryak are the unforgettable legacies of that nobility which Sir has left behind.I am emotional,speechless and wordless.May Sir achieve the Kaivalya dhaam. Om Namah Shivay.

When you think of someone with the sincerity of a child in the world of finance, one can only think immediately of Vijay. Downright straight forward, simple and with amazing enthusiasm to build and keep relationships - Vijay, such a wonderful role model. The last thing that I did with him was to teach him to use Chop sticks - which he learnt in 10 minutes. Prayers for his soul to rest in peace and strength to his loved ones. Vijay- guess he best guys go early. One of the finest most gentle and collected guys i have met. I never studied with him - he would have been couple of years junior to me. Met him few times and developed an immense bond in a short while. Man of strong character. My regrets could not meet him over the years. He was a quiet, yet very strong and firm leader at college. My interactions with him - left deep impressions about a lovely and deeply understanding buddy. Yes Vijays untimely departure is so important reminder to all of us - guys stay in touch. Life is a short journey - and we should live with memories but not with regrets. I do regret- inspite of wanting to - didnt meet him last for a long while. Hope his family gets strength. And Hope we all stay in touch. Vijay is deep and unforgettable

Vijay..Vijay is big, bright smile. Vijay is Sincerity, Loyalty, Honesty. Vijay is a true guide, a mentor, a great friend. Vijay is a fighter, like no other. Vijay is Passion... I have known Vijay since 94. And always knew of all his above qualities. But I got to know most about him in the last 2.5 years when we regularly visited him. True character of a person reflects in the way one fights adversities..And fight he did- brilliantly, valliantly, till his last breath. He smiled his famous smile till he could..and when he failed to give that smile, it hurt.. I have also known Vijay through Kanchan. The most indulgent and caring husband and a doting father. How I wish to see him again, to see him smile, to argue over stupid things..But I also wish him eternal peace. I am yet to know a person who has left such lasting impression on people whose lives he touched.. And Vijay was lucky to have Kanchan by his side, so that he could fight with dignity till the very end. Love you, Vijay..God owes you Peace and happiness..and do look after us.

My first interaction with Vijay was when he joined Padmatex as a Management Trainee. His maturity in thought and action belied his young age and he always left a positive impact on people he interacted with. He was a fountain of ideas and information which he would gladly share, an ever willing and reliable go-to person if you needed someone who would look at a problem and give you an out of the box solution. If Vijay was seized of a problem, you could rest assured he would look at at it from multiple angles, evolve possible solutions and after internalising them would humbly and lucidly present you with his analyses, possible solutions and his recommendation - all in one go. You didn't have to discuss the matter any further - just take a decision knowing all bases were covered. His charming smile, and soft voice masked the steely resolve that drove him to do whatever he did with perfection. He went on to hold corporate positions he so deserved, but remained ever so humble and down to earth. We met once again several years later when he was trying to help me get a senior position in the Piramal Piramal Group. Though we weren't in touch on regular basis, you could bet Vijay would call and greet you during Diwali and share his happiness, enquire about your well being and genuinely wish we could meet and share memories. Vijay was a fine human being. The world is so much poorer with his passing. Adios amigo. We miss you.

Friend Philosopher Guide...words easily bandied but impossible to live up to. Well Vijay did it with ease and I am grateful to have come across this force of nature - in his intellect, emotion, generosity, care and of course this man was born mature. When folk like me were struggling to know they were, what they stood for (if anything) at college and in life - Sathye always knew! and Sathye would always deliver with a clarity and simplicity so profound that you would kick yourself and think - shit I dint even realise that. Yet Sathye had no airs - completely untouched by the force of his own intelligence (far more men have been far more proud about far less) and later his deserved success. So untouched in fact...that for many decades he had the ST Bus challenge that we kept refreshing (but dint actually undertake)...that after decades and some success could we travel on a State Transport Bus without being bothered. Like so many tests Sathye faced, I am sure he would have left us all in the dust in that challenge too. My eyes cloud over so many times just thinking of him and writing these few lines that do him scare justice. Shine on Sathye...for you certainly will in my heart.

I have had the privilege and honour of knowing Vijay for over a decade now not only as the MD of Meghraj Capital where I was employed but as a very decent human being, well-wisher, mentor and elder brother. My first memory of him goes back to March 2010 when I had gone over to Meghraj's Parel office to meet their Chairman Binoy Meghraj and Vijay to discuss a potential opening. Vijay insisted on escorting me back to the elevator and opening the elevator doors for me. When I thanked him by saying ' Thank you Sir' he pretended to look all around him and said that he did not know anyone called ' Sir' there and that I should call him Vijay. That was the sort of person that Vijay was- Warm, affectionate, honest, generous to a fault, supportive and the highest epitome of all that was human and gentlemanly. Many tried to emulate him, none however succeeded. That was because Vijay was what he was on the outside as well as on the inside. He did not have two sides to his personality which is otherwise quite common in the corporate world where the attention given to a person more often than not hinges on his/her seniority and potential 'utility'. With Vijay, what one saw was exactly what one got. Everyone from the MD of a large company to a cab driver received the same treatment from Vijay. He was generous with his time when it came to helping others. Many were the occasions when he spared hours from his busy schedule to hear me out and share his thoughts on issues that I could have been having at the time at the professional as well as the personal level. He was unimaginably generous with his money when it came to the needy. He epitomized the best values of leadership and inspired respect without every asking for it. Vijay, to put it briefly had his heart in the right place. Vijay lives on in our memories and in his family including his son Aryak. While you went too soon, Vijay, it was extremely enriching to have known you and interacted closely with you on a personal and professional level. Rest in peace, Vijay.

Cannot think of anyone who left as much of a lasting impression on me in just 2 meetings, as Vijay did ! What stood out more than his knowledge, attention to detail, and network of people who he knew was his empathy .... the way he empathised with me and heard me out patiently, it was like I was being guided by my elder brother. I know that he will be happiest if I can imbibe even 10 % of how kind and empathetic he was ..... The world will miss you Vijay .... I will miss you .... the world is poorer having lost an extremely kind hearted and empathetic person .... May your soul rest in peace and may your family gather the strength to overcome this ....

Increasingly, in a world where facts are stranger than fiction and dystopian is the new normal, the word “Gentleman” is losing its charm and what it embodies. Vijay would be the human metaphor of what a Gentleman would look like and behave, to its last fault. Extremely sharp with his observations and a keenness to know all problems with all its complexities, he was rooted in his convictions. The ability to listen to a differing view smilingly and yet put across your point in a civil manner is a lost art, now more than ever with Vijay gone so far. And it is not often that you encounter someone like Vijay whose convictions and beliefs never took him away from being humane and humble. In a world full of shades of ethics, his stood out a quite stark contrast of what was black and white, always erring on the side of white. As is the destiny of such men, his need for perfection extended to the smallest of tasks. The body was weakened but the mind was always sharp, till the very end. It’s indeed a credit to Kanchan, how he lived with supreme dignity even when faced with insurmountable odds of physical limitations. Farewell my friend, with your passing the bell indeed does toll for all of us as the world is that much more poor. Rest and eternal peace be with you, always, for you have paid your dues and some.

Vijay was our senior at B-school and could have easily treated us as 'juniors'. Instead, he treated each one of us with genuine respect, making us feel equals. His leadership skills, being able to see the big picture and an amazing ability to execute were the hallmarks of someone who was destined to go places. Always greeting us with a disarming smile, he was someone who I always desired to please and impress; bug him with my questions, seek his views, have him mentor. He had this persona that attracted most of us to him like a magnet. His amazing smile, his genuine respect for others, his completely selfless ways of being - these are things that remained till the very end. He was a rock and will continue to have a towering influence on me. I was blessed to be with Vijay every time he came to Bangalore for therapy and got to share some moments that I will cherish for all my life. Deepest condolence to Kanchan and Aaryak...the two pillars who supported Vijay - literally and metaphorically right till the end. They say strange are His ways and this is the only way that I can reconcile with this.... Rest in Peace Vijay. You made a difference to me. And to each one who came in touch with you. And when I look up to the stars, I will see you, smiling that big smile of yours

Vijay was my first Boss – actually Boss word does not reflect his personality – He was a mentor, a guide, a person who took great pains to help me and groom me. He was a genuine person who always wished well of others. I have learned so much from him having worked with him for 3-4 years at Piramal. He was always so calm, down to earth, patient, very hard working and with great attention to detail. He also empowered me a lot to do lot of things independently. Vijay has played a very important role in my professional life and I can never forget that. He was a GEM of a person and will miss him. I regret not being able to meet him in last few years and will regret it for rest of my life. I feel for his wife and son - hope God gives them enough strength to overcome this huge loss. Om Shanti.

Vijaybhai as I used to call him, in life as much as in his passing, will remain a dear dear friend, an elder brother and a guide like none other...HIs clarity of thought and uncompromising Value systems are a high watermark that few can even aspire to emulate. His passion for life and work was an inspiration. I had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him for over 25 years and benefitting from his immense wisdom and unique perspective on life...The year plus that I spent living with Vijay, Jignesh and Ajay will remain one of my most cherished memories...his approach to everything was meticulous and thorough - be it chopping vegetables, Analysing a Balance Sheet or untangling a tricky life situation... His ability to truly "Listen" and give his 100% to every conversation is a rare trait...his Socratic approach to guiding ensured that he helped me discover the answer rather than dole out advice. His passing has left a huge void which no one can ever fill...Our Loss is the Heavens gain...I am sure he is sitting up there by the side of the Master in the larger purpose of guiding the Universe...
