On Sunday, November 22, 2020, Richard “Dick” Stanford Saul passed away in his home in Palm Desert, California at the age of 90.
Richard was born on June 7, 1930 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Miriam and Stanford Saul. He proudly graduated from Allentown High School in 1948 and then enlisted into the United States Navy and served from 1948 to 1952 aboard the USS Ingraham as an Electrical Technician. Once discharged from the Navy, Richard attended Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He then moved to Los Angeles, California and soon after he met his wife of 60 years, Valerie Huber Saul. He worked for Douglas Aircraft Company until 1987 when he moved on to work for the Federal Aviation Administration until retiring in 1992.
He is survived by his wife Valerie, their children Jacque LeTarte, Steven Saul, and Joann Gitmed, and grandchildren Jessica, Peter, Christopher, Jaime, Samantha, Nickolaus, and Savannah, and his sister, Lucille Maurer and her children.
He spent his last days surrounded by his loving family. By request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations can be made in his name to Desert Cancer Foundation in Palm Desert, California who help pay for cancer care for local residents who need financial assistance.
