Our Dear In-law – Elder Richard Andrew Morka,
Life is real! It has a start and end points to! When it comes to the issue of death, two phrases from the Holy Book readily comes to mind: ‘The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh the away' and ‘Dust thou art, and u to dust shalt thou return'. The reality of these phrases is usually a discomfort, but here, it is not just a loss but a huge one indeed. In any case, who are we to question the will of God? However, in the immortal words of the great English Literary giant, William Shakespeare, ‘Death is a necessary end, it will come when it will come'. So as mere mortals, we have no control over death.
Elder Morka, you were a great in-law, a man of God, and a great disciplinarian who brought up your lovely and disciplined children with the fear of God and infused the values of good education in them. Looking at Felix, Ruby, and Efe in terms of character and achievements, one can well imagine their background – ‘Character defines a man and gives an insight of where you are coming from'.
In addition, reflecting on what happened on the day your daughter, Ruby was getting married traditionally, we saw your sudden mood switch which indicated your thought flow that we could not understand at first. On closer observation we could follow the movements of your eyes on countless times towards the hanging photograph of a very beautiful woman- your late lovely wife, our in-law of the blessed memory. That gave the insight into your thought flow down the memory lane – a great sober reflection of a man that cared.
For us, your in-laws, you were a great family man, a great husband of your late wife, a great father to your children, and a wonderful grandfather of our beautiful grandchildren from Teeto and Felix, Ruby and Ifeanyi, Efe and ifijen, and above all, a great servant of God (Elder).
Your life was a blessing to all who truly encountered you in life. Our son Ifeanyi would never stop comparing you with his father in many similar ways. To your Creator, you were a useful vessel that touched many lives. May Christ, the Good Shepherd lead you safely home to be at peace with him.
Great and painful as your death may be, our consolation is that you have wonderful children and that will carry on with your legacies, and we appreciate the opportunity you gave us to marry your God fearing, lovely beautiful, and hardworking first daughter.
Adieu, may the Angels of God usher you into paradise, Amen.
