Michael Paul Lee left this life peacefully on October 14, 2025. He was born on June 18, 1948, in San Francisco, California, but spent his formative years in Mansfield, Ohio. Mike graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1966 and Washburn University in 1970. He established roots in Topeka, Kansas, where he worked as a plumbing contractor and spent his rare free time officiating high school and college football, hunting, boating, and quad riding. Upon retiring in 2017, he moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he spent his days boating, deep sea fishing, grilling up some mean fajitas for his loving wife, family, and friends, and enjoying every breath of life with sunshine on his face and sand between his toes.
Mike is survived by his wife Peggy Lee; daughter Kristy (John) Lucero of Portland, Oregon, stepson Lee (Melissa) Karge of Webster Groves, Missouri; stepson Tommy (Erica) Bobo of Washington, D.C., stepdaughter Rebecca (Jeff) Burgess of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren Megan, Shelby, Lizzy, Zack, Jake, Landon, Cece, Brooke, Baya, Aaron, Adrien, and Elliott, and great grandchildren Cayden, Collins, and Parker. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra K. Lee, in 1949, father Howard P. Lee in 1986, mother Virginia A. Lee in 2002, and stepdaughter Carey Karge Lorson in 2014.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 P.M. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Lake Sherwood Clubhouse, 6910 SW Fountaindale Road, Topeka, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Easterseals Midwest (https://midwest.easterseals.com/donate).
