Mike Armstrong passed away in his home on January 13, 2021. He was born in Berkeley,
California, on May 2, 1971. Adopted as an infant, he was raised in Los Gatos, California. He is a
graduate of Los Gatos High School and U. C. Berkeley, and earned a Masters in Finance through
Golden Gate University. Before college, he worked at Double Rainbow Ice Cream in Los Gatos.
After college he worked in investment banking at Montgomery Securities and ThinkEquity
Partners in San Francisco. An early interest in cycling later developed into the occasional
triathlon. For 25 years he was a fixture in the North Beach area of San Francisco regaling friends
with stories from his life which seemed unbelievable but were most often true. Despite his
foibles, he was loved by many as a fiercely loyal friend. Mike would take care of random people in North Beach, but would go out of his way to ensure people didn't see this generosity. He struggled
with alcohol in his final years which may have contributed to his untimely passing. Mike is
survived by his loving family, including his mother Marsha, uncle David and cousin Zeb, as well
as by his brother Christopher, sister Danielle and stepmother Janet. In his forties Mike was
excited to have connected with his birth mother Podie and birth father Tim. The family has
asked not to receive cards or flowers. Rather, those who feel compelled may donate to an
animal rescue in their area, such as the SPCA or Humane Society. Mike had an affection for
animals, especially large dogs. Mike is laid to rest with his grandparents at Hills of Eternity
Memorial Park, 1301 El Camino Real, Colma, CA 94014.
