Mary Elizabeth (Mary-Beth) Taylor, 71, of Northport Maine, died peacefully on January 5 in Belfast, Maine after a long battle with cancer. Mary-Beth was born in Boston on July 22, 1950, daughter of the late Alden R. Taylor Jr. and Edwina (Kelley) Taylor, formerly of Northport, Maine. She is survived by sons Edward (Ned) A. Lally and Benjamin and his wife Rebecca (Masferrer) Lally of Framingham, Massachusetts, and granddaughters Sophia and Violet Lally. She is also survived by her brother Alden R. Taylor III of Wilton, Connecticut, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jane Edwina Taylor.
A graduate of Mount Pleasant High School of Wilmington, Delaware, Mary-Beth received an associate degree in merchandising from Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington D.C. Her merchandising credentials led to a series of positions including Jordan Marsh, MBNA, and Reny’s. She also enjoyed a fourteen-year career as a reading tutor and a special education paraprofessional in New Hampshire and western Massachusetts. Mary-Beth had a sharp sense of humor, loved reading, and caring for her beloved pets. She will be greatly missed.
