Mark W. Jones, 48, of Bluefield, VA passed away surrounded by his family at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV on November, 14, 2021. Born on March 19 th, 1973 in Winchester, VA. He is a son of the late Charles Elwood and Kathryn Liskey Jones. He grew up in Middleway, WV and was a 1991 graduate of Jefferson High School. He went on to attend Glenville State College where he earned his Associate’s degree in Forestry and Bachelor’s degree in Biology. After college, he spent several years working for Landmark Forestry in Horner, WV. Later he returned to school at West Virginia University to further his education. There he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Wood Science and Master’s degree in Forestry. While attending WVU Mark joined the Woodmen Team, where he famously became “Jonesy.” It was at WVU he would meet his future wife, Tricia Roberts.
During his time at WVU Mark began working for Allegheny Wood Products. Mark would spend his career working at AWP for over 20 years. While employed with AWP, he worked at various locations and positions from Forestry Aide, Mill Shift Supervisor, Plant Manager, and Southern Regional Manager.
In May of 2005 Mark married Tricia in Aberdeen, MD. Living in North Carolina, together they would have two children, Molly and Wesley. Eventually Mark, Tricia, and the kids would make their home in Bluefield, VA.
Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman; he would travel to various places to do so. He also thoroughly enjoyed kayaking, riding ATV’s, competing in Timber Sports and coaching football. Mark loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children. It seemed that Mark never knew a stranger and had the uncanny ability to make people laugh or smile. Mark could be a bit of a ‘Storyteller’ and enjoyed sharing stories with others.
Mark is survived by his wife Tricia of 16 years and his children, Molly and Wesley, who reside in Bluefield, VA. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, Charles Jeffrey of Hedgesville, WV and Matthew of Inwood, WV, and sister, Kathy Jones of Middleway, WV. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
