Met diepe droefheid meldt BEMAS, de Belgian Maintenance Association vzw-asbl, het plotse overlijden van dhr. Marc De Kerf, bestuurder en secretaris. Onze eerste gedachten gaan uit naar zijn echtgenote, kinderen en naaste familie, en natuurlijk ook naar zijn collega’s bij BASF Antwerpen. Marc was een briljante onderhoudsadept en wij kunnen nog niet bevatten dat hij er niet meer is. We bieden de Belgische en internationale onderhoudscommunity de kans om hier een rouwbericht of een herinnering te delen, die wij vervolgens met de familie en de collega’s van Marc zullen delen. -----------------------------Wim Vancauwenberghe, Directeur van BEMAS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is with deep regret that BEMAS, the Belgian Maintenance Association vzw-asbl, announces the sudden passing of its board member and Secretary, Mr Marc De Kerf. Our first thoughts go out to his wife, children and close family, and of course to his colleagues at BASF Antwerp. Marc was an award-winning maintenance enthusiast and we cannot yet comprehend that he is no longer with us. Through this web page, we are offering the Belgian and international maintenance community the opportunity to share condolences or a memory, which we will then pass on to Marc's family and colleagues. --------------Wim Vancauwenberghe, Director of BEMAS

With much regret and far too soon we have to say goodbye to a friend, colleague and inspirator. It’s very hard, because we have always known him as a sincere, enthusiastic, passionate, good-natured man who was 100% committed to his family, work and interests. It is very hard, because it’s sheer impossible to enumerate the many professional achievements and results Marc has obtained during his career in maintenance and asset management. It is very hard, because it’s sheer impossible to describe his exceptional level of insight, both in technical and managerial aspects of the maintenance profession. Have a look at his impressive track record with proven results in safety and performance, and you will understand. Marc started education at technical school and got practical training as a technician. He went on by obtaining a Master of Science degree in industrial engineering and an additional Master degree in Applied sciences - Civil Engineering Mechanics. Throughout his career he worked both on developing innovative concepts in maintenance & asset management, and on applying those concepts in the day to day maintenance operations at BASF Antwerp. His commitment also reached outside the boundaries of his daytime job. He was Secretary and a very active volunteer for BEMAS, the Belgian Maintenance Association. As a subject matter specialist he gave award winning presentations in Belgium and abroad in the field of maintenance and asset management. He also was the BEMAS representative for the Global Forum on Maintenance & Asset Management, he gave lectures at universities, guided students with their final project, and exchanged his experiences and insights with colleague maintenance & asset managers. In the scarce spare time that was left, he maintained and restored vintage motorcycles, which he loved to drive on weekends. It’s clear why he was in 2018 a most deserving winner of the prestigious European Maintenance Manager Award. It has been a real privilege and great honour to know Marc personally. I offer my sincerest condolences to his wife, his children, his close family, and of course his colleagues at BASF Antwerp. We will miss him deeply. Sincerely, Wim Vancauwenberghe Director of BEMAS
