Many of us across the Lincolnshire health and care system have been saddened by the recent passing of our friend and colleague, Kim Barr.
Kim was an inspirational leader, tireless in her passion and desire to improve people’s experience of the health and care system. Her energy, drive and collaborative working ethos were instrumental in developing and improving many areas of work across the system.
Kim worked on the early development of specialist Respiratory Care and as a MacMillan Nurse, worked with partners across the system to progress Palliative and End of Life Care services.
As Matron working with Welland Ward Kim was recognised nationally for the work she did to raise the profile of older people’s nursing and was made a Fellow of Kings College. Kim became Frailty Lead for the trust and worked across the system to improve our understanding of frailty and develop our shared approach to frailty assessment.
Latterly Kim worked as Neighbourhood Lead in the Skegness and Coast neighbourhood where her qualities as a leader and connector were in their element; driving integration across the health, care and community voluntary sector – passionately championing health equality for some of our most challenged communities.
Kim’s work, her support, mentoring and friendship touched so many of us and she is sorely missed.
