We celebrate the life of Kato Edred Serwanga, born in Kampala, Uganda on July 23, 1976. He transitioned on September 25, 2025 in Berkeley, CA.
Kato grew up in a close-knit family in Sacramento, CA with siblings James, Martin, Annette, Irene, Isaac and his twin brother Wasswa Serwanga, all whom he loved dearly.
A UC Berkeley two-degree graduate (B.A. Psychology, M.A. Education), 5-year NFL Veteran (New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, NY Giants) and world traveler, our beloved Kato lived his life as a dedicated son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, teammate, friend to many, passionate learner, and pursuer of excellence in every facet of his life.
He is survived by his father Patrick Serwanga and mother Robina Serwanga, his siblings, their families, and his extended family.
The Serwangas express our gratitude to the Sacramento community at large, our Ugandan extended family, UC Berkeley & the Golden Bears, the New England Patriots, the Washington Redskins, and the NY Giants organizations for their love and support.
In honor of Kato, a celebration of life will be held Saturday November 8, 2025 at the Sierra Vista Community Church in Sacramento, CA. His celebration of life will begin at 2:00pm followed by a reception.
