Jos de Goey

11 mei 1963 - 21 februari 2020

Jos de Goey was CEO of WorldSkills Netherlands, President and Chair of WorldSkills International. Jos’ passing means the loss of a charismatic, passionate and highly committed CEO. Our thoughts are with his wife Anouschka and their children Charlotte and Torsten.

My first recollection of Jos was the 2003 WorldSkills Competition and General Assembly and it was clear from the beginning that we shared the passion for young people and skills development. What began as collegial soon became a friendship based on shared values that led to us both joining in the WorldSkills board in 2010. Jos has been ‘All things Skills’ at home in the Netherlands, across all of Europe and around the world and was very much the natural successor to the role of WorldSkills President last year. His passing has still has not sunk in! He had found great place in his life, comfortable professionally, with his family, health and fitness and looking forward to sharing the experiences of his children, Charlotte and Torsten, a they embarked on new eras in their lives. My condolences go out to them and his wife Anouschka and the extended family. The WorldSkills movement has lost a great advocate and leader but mostly I shall miss him for his optimism, humour, passion and friendship. Rest in peace Jos.
