With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jacob Justin Guillory, who left this world too soon on [insert date of death here]. Jacob, born on September 15, 1998, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a vibrant young man whose life was cut short due to complications from an injury. He was 21 years old at the time of his passing, and his loss leaves a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones.
Jacob was the beloved son of Holly Rebecca Guillory (nee Dietrich) and the late David Justin Guillory. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Michelle Fontenot Guillory, and his maternal grandfather, Joseph Dietrich. Jacob’s absence will be profoundly felt by those who survive him, including his devoted girlfriend, Elena Newcomb, with whom he shared a loving relationship for over a year. He is also survived by his two sisters, Annemarie Bradford and her husband Dallas, both of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Grace Guillory.
Jacob's family extends beyond his immediate relations. He leaves behind a caring paternal uncle, Matthew "Joey" Guillory Jr., and his wife Maureen Lott Guillory from Chalmette, along with their sons, Matthew "Trey" Guillory III of New Orleans and Elijah Guillory and his wife Kathryn Hebert of Gulfport, Mississippi. His paternal grandfather, Matthew Guillory Sr., of Cut Off, and his maternal grandmother, Rose Jackson Dietrich of Alexandria, also survive him. He is further survived by his maternal aunt, Gretchen Dietrich Galiano, and her husband Clint, along with their daughter Haven Galiano, all of Little Rock, Arkansas. Additionally, Jacob is survived by his maternal uncle, Henry Dietrich, and his wife Lydia Rigaud Dietrich, and their children, Jackson, Dakota, Anne, and Hayden Dietrich, all of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Jacob was a proud graduate of East Jefferson High School in Metairie, class of 2016. He was furthering his education as a student at Nunez Community College, where he pursued his dreams with the same determination he applied to all aspects of his life. His dedication to learning was matched only by his commitment to his faith. A devout Christian and lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of New Orleans, Jacob was an active participant in his community, organizing fundraisers and attending missions that reflected his caring nature.
Athleticism was one of Jacob's passions; he excelled in cross country running and basketball during his high school years. His love for sports was a testament to his spirited personality and desire to connect with others through shared interests. Friends and family remember Jacob as a loving, caring person who had a positive impact on everyone he met.
Jacob's memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of New Orleans on July 21, 2019, at 10:30 AM. All who knew him are invited to celebrate his life, share their memories, and support one another through this difficult time.
As we gather to honor Jacob Justin Guillory, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
