Helen Marie Green died peacefully at her daughters’ home in Fairfield, California at the age of 78 surrounded by family.
Helen Marie Green (Patton) was born March 4th, 1942 in Austin, Texas to the late Robert Edward Lee and Velma (Bonner) Patton. Her name was Helen, but most people knew her as “Marie” or “Nanni”.
At the age of 3 her family relocated to Marin City, California. Marie graduated from Tamalpais High School in 1960 and continued her education at College of Marin, graduating as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Marie was baptized at a young age at First Missionary Church in Marin City, California. She later accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as an adult at Village Baptist Church in Marin City, CA. She attended Church at Cornerstone Church until she was no longer able to travel.
Marie married Douglas Quiett Sr. in 1958 and 3 children Theresa, Douglas Jr, and Annette were born from this union. Marie married Phaterrell in 1969 and 2 children Gina and Daytanya were born from this union. She worked at Ross Hospital as a C.N.A, and PGE as a switch board operator. She later moved on to work for the County of Marin, Board of Supervisors as a Senior Secretary, where she worked for over 20 years and was blessed to retire from.
Marie enjoyed decorating, gardening, event planning, entertaining, and cooking for her loved ones. She brought a smile to all who had the pleasure of being around her. After retirement she often volunteered at the Food Pantry, American Red Cross, and Marguerita C. Johnson Senior Center.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Robert Edward Lee and Velma (Bonner) Patton, her husband Phaterrell, granddaughter Kiana Quiett, grandson Darryn Compton and great grandson Mason. Marie is survived by her five children Theresa Quiett, Douglas Quiett Jr, Annette Quiett (Daniel), Gina Compton and Daytanya Coleman (Bobbie). Eight grandchildren Darryl Compton (Cheng), Derrell Compton, Matthew Huff (Krystal), Monique Huff, Danea Walker, James Cook IV, Tyrrell Bland, and Frederick Lambrecht-Quiett. Seven Great grandchildren, Cashis and Carter Compton, Dominick and Kiana Huff, Cameron Haynes, Riley Walker, and Jabari Cook. Throughout her life Marie welcomed numerous children into her home as her surrogate children and grandchildren.
A memorial will be scheduled later. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marie’s life.
