April 25 National Telephone Day. Apple’s 2007 iPhone is a camera, iPod, computer, and phone — all in one handheld device. Sometimes I think this invention has destroyed what I hold dear (personal interactions) and yet especially during the pandemic it has been a lifesaver. Too often I found my kids buried in their phones and I wanted to say hey I’m right here. Too much emphasis on likes on posts etc negatively impact self esteem and social media has allowed that distance to make it easier to be mean to others. I’m not a fan.
I like to text so I don’t bother someone but I enjoy talking on the phone more. Nothing brightened my day more than a call from my kids. Hana would call on her way to or from someplace to tell me about her day. I so enjoyed that she reached out to me. I really miss her calls. I miss her sharing her latest adventure, challenge, etc. I miss you Hana. I wish you were still here to call. I love you
