Madam Julianah Foyeke Agunbiade was born on July 17, 1940, and departed this world on August 27, 2024. A woman of honour, she was a cherished figure who embraced people of all ages with kindness and compassion. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and nurturing those around her, particularly her children, whom she supported tirelessly.
Born in Odo-Oja, Ijeda-Ijesa, Madam Agunbiade was the first child of Late Pa Gabriel Adegboyega Falana (father, the only surviving child out of 13 Children of his mother) and Late Madam Felicia Oluwatola Adeboyega. She faced early hardships, losing her mother at the age of eleven. This loss marked the beginning of her journey as a caregiver, as she took on the responsibility of looking after her younger siblings. Due to these early responsibilities, she was unable to attend school or receive formal education, but her love for learning remained strong throughout her life.
Madam Agunbiade married Late Pa David Oluwaseun Agunbiade, fondly known as "Postmaster." Together, they had six children. Though, she lacked formal education, she deeply valued it and ensured her children were given the educational opportunities she never had. She worked tirelessly as a farmer and entrepreneur, providing for her family without the support of others. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family, as she also took in nieces and nephews, helping to support and sponsor them as they grew.
Her move to Ilesa did not diminish her kindness. There, she continued to show great love for children, always eager to be around them and offering her care and guidance. Her impact was felt throughout her community, where she was known as a generous, supportive, and honourable woman of valour. Even in her old age, she took in one of her granddaughters, who became so close to her that people affectionately referred to the granddaughter as her “last born.”
Madam Agunbiade was a beloved figure, leaving behind a legacy that no one who knew her would ever wish to forget. Her influence touched the lives of many, and she is remembered with deep affection and respect.
We pray that her soul rests in perfect peace until we meet again.
Amen.
