Doris Elizabeth (Torkko) Wiggins died on August 23, 2025 in Carrollton, Texas at the age of 91.
She was born on July 30,1934 in Ashland Wisconsin, and was the youngest of eight children. Her parents, Emmanuel and Julia Torkko, were members of a large community of Finnish immigrants. Finnish was the language at home. Doris moved after graduation at Ondossagon High School in Ashland to Milwaukee where she raised her three children and later found her passion for ballroom dancing. She took this passion with her when she moved to the Dallas, Texas area where her children reside.
Doris is survived by her children, Greg of Carrollton, TX , Julie Buschman of Lewisville, TX and Jeff (Lisa) of Plano, TX as well as her 4 grandchildren, Tyler (Lizzie) and Kaitlin Buschman and Sam and Anna Wiggins.
She was predeceased by her four brothers, Toivo Torkko, Anthony Torkko, Melvin Torkko and Edward Torkko and three sisters, Lillian Torkko, Aune Nelson and Lempi Broomhall.
She loved her extended Finnish family and truly defined “Sisu”. Her family always came first. Doris will be remembered for her personal strength and fortitude, her love and skill of ballroom dancing and being the official cat lady, tending to many stray cats.
