Debbie graduated from Douglas Southall Freeman High School and Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a bachelor’s degree in fashion design. Debbie was a gifted artist and illustrator from a very young age and shared her many talents throughout her life to bring joy to others. Debbie enjoyed planning exotic trips. During her 40 years of marriage, Debbie and David traveled all around the world and experienced once in a lifetime adventures together! Debbie enjoyed art history, reading, nature, watching foreign films, PBS, attending the Richmond symphony, and helping the less fortunate.
She shared many years of unconditional love with her baby, ‘Meshach’ the cat. For years Debbie cared for many homeless cats near her home, but one special cat who Debbie named “Baby Cat” decided to stay, choosing only Debbie to love and trust. She loved all animals and they were drawn to her sweet and loving Spirit.
Per Debbie’s request there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Good Samaritan Ministries Shelter in Richmond or your local Humane Society in Debbie’s honor.
Philippians 1:3-6
“ I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:4-7
“ Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
