Ashley George Junior Watson, first born son of Doreen Sonia Williams and Albert George Watson died suddenly on Sunday 10 November, 2024. Shabana his wife, Aayan their child and extended family are devestated. Ashley was laid to rest on Friday 15 November, 2024. His wife has sent the following message, "it was such a beautiful day filled with love and prayers. So many people came to honor him, and we are deeply touched by the outpouring of support. Being a Friday, he was blessed with extra prayers from the community at the Mosque, which brought us great comfort. The number of people who assisted in his burial was overwhelming, and though it feels surreal to say, he looked truly at peace. Thank you for all the kind and comforting messages-- I've read each one, and they mean so much. One of his godmothers has created a memory page where you can share your memories of Ashley. These will be treasured by the family, and one day, his son Aayan will be able to look back and see just how deeply his father was loved. Please keep Ashley in your prayers, and thank you again for your love and support. It has brought us immense strength during this time. Much love, Shabana"

What can I say about Ash? Well, he was certainly his own man and always did what he wanted to do (it's why we used to call him h'old man H'Ashley lol), but he'd always be humble enough to recognise if someone was trying help or offered advice. In truth, we're very similar, which is probably why we got along so well. I knew Ash would be a friend for life after he first came on a night out with me and my existing friendship group (soon to include Ash and be known as the mandem!). Ash and I didn't really chat to each other too much when we worked together at Sainsburys, so were more colleagues at that point, but when I left he still showed up for what was kind of my leaving night out - the only one from Sainsburys to come! What he witnessed on the night was pure carnage, so honestly I didn't think he'd want to be a part of my crazy group of friends, but he must have enjoyed himself and felt the genuine love everyone showed him because the next day he messaged me asking when we were doing it again lol From then on our friendship became even stronger and stronger, from going on holidays together (where he'd be happy to sit on the poolside listening to slow jams) to both supporting each other through life events, such as getting married, having kids and buying houses. Our love for football, and in particular Chelsea was one that we shared together being the only Chelsea fans in our group - one memory that sticks out is when Chelsea first won the Champions League in 2012. I was attending a wedding, so couldn't meet up with Ash to watch the final, but I snuck back to the hotel room to watch the game and spent the whole time on the phone to him going though all the emotions from disappointment when we conceded on 83 minutes, to complete euphoria when we equalised on 88 minutes and going on to score the decisive penalty. It was a moment Ash and I would always talk about and one I will always remember, even though we weren't even in the same room! Theres just so many great memories I've been blessed to have shared with Ash, too many to write down. So even though I'm deeply saddened by his passing, I also have to be grateful that I was able to share nearly 20 years on this earth with him and was able to grow into a man with one of the best friends you could ask for by my side. I will miss Ash so much as I'm sure many others will, but for anyone reading this now or in the future, please know that Ash was a great man that loved his family, friends, music, and football, and a man that I can only describe as being genuine, funny, ambitious, and caring. Please remember him with a smile rather than tears, as I'm 100% certain that's what he would have wanted. Until next time my friend... I know you'll have the decks spinning and a glass of rum and lemonade waiting for me when I join you. Love you bro

Cousin Ash, we are absolutely devastated by this news. Gone way too soon. You will be dearly missed. We will remember the times at Nan and grandads playing Xbox and Sunday dinner, all the times you, your mum, sister and brother used to come round to ours after shopping, the countless times out we’ve been to, your stag night and your wedding. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of that. Too many memories to list but they will all be remembered. I’m sorry this has occurred, you had so much more to give. My love goes out to your mum, Auntie Doreen, your sister, Micha, brother, Kyle, Wife, Shabana and son, Aayan. Our thoughts are with you all. Rest easy Ashley and keep nanny and grandad company.
