Late Brother Anthony Peter Etim, fondly called Tony Etim, was born on October 10, 1966. Anthony was a man of intelligence and passion for learning, earning a master’s degree, amongst others in his pursuit of higher education. His professional career was built in journalism, a field where his natural communication skills and love for storytelling flourished. He joined the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC), where he worked with distinction as a journalist, translator, and newscaster. For decades, his face and voice became a familiar one to many, old and young, and his clarity and warmth in delivering news earned him respect across the state. He was popularly called Sitīpe Mfīn. Anthony retired in January 2024, after many years of devoted service to his profession. Brother Anthony Etim’s life was one defined by purpose, dedication, and service—to his family, his faith, and his community. Though he is dead, his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire those who knew him. Tony Etim was a firm believer in the resurrection hope, as expressed in Acts 24:15, and took comfort in Jehovah’s promise of eternal life. His family and loved ones take solace in knowing that one day, in accordance with John 5:28-29, brother Anthony Etim will hear Jesus’ voice and rise again in the resurrection. He will always be remembered as a philanthropist, a man of integrity, strength, and faith. He lived his life with purpose, touching the lives of many along the way.
