Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee Rahimahullah, a name, a movement, a multi-dimensional institution, a combination of versatile talents. This name revived the spirit of Islamic movement among the Muslims, while on the contrary, this simple name was enough to frighten the tyrants, enemy of the people and anti-Islamic quarters.
His eloquence, noble presentation, gesture,logical and rational presentation and firm activities inspired millions of repressed people and subsequently led them towards the genuine aspect of Islam.
This is why, the hostile sections started plots and conspiracies to subdue the voices of Allama Sayedee. Often, they fired bullet against him or exploded bombs, or he was sent to prison or often they conducted slanderous campaign against him to remove him from the heart of people.
Political Life
Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee joined Jamaat-e-Islami in 1979. He took oath as the member of this party in 1982. He became the Majlish-e-Shura member of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1989. Allama Sayedee was serving Jamaat-e-Islami as its Nayeb-e-Ameer.
Allama Delawar Hossain Sayedee was elected as the member of the Parliament as a candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1996 and 2001. He was forcibly defeated in the election of 2008.
He was elected MP in 2001 securing 1,10, 108 votes. His nearest opponent Awami League’s Sudhangshu Shekhar Haldar secured 76,731 votes. In the election of 1996, only 3 members were elected from Jamaat-e-Islami. In that election, Maulana Sayedee won securing 55,717 votes.
Allama Sayedee as a preacher of Islam and a national leader
Allama Sayedee wrote 5 volumes of Tafsir of Holy Quran named 'Tafsir Sayedee'. The rest of the work of Tafsir is in progress. He wrote a biographical book of The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) called 'Sirate Sayyedul Mursalin' in 564 pages. Besides, he published 77 books on fiqhul hadith, Quran and science, women's rights in Islam, workers' rights in Islam, political views of Islam, Islam in suppressing terrorism and militancy. Four of his books were published in English from America and England.
Allama Sayedee was a well-known Islamic thinker and commentator on the Holy Quran. At the same time, as a skilled politician, he was twice elected as a Member of Parliament from Pirojpur constituency by a huge margin and played a strong role in the welfare of Islam, the country and the nation. He joined the Jamaat-e-Islami, the party that established the rules of the Qur'an, in 1979 and had been working relentlessly to establish the rules of the Qur'an. He was the Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami. Allama Sayedee devoted himself to the service of Islam and traveled to various countries in the Middle East, Europe, Australia, America and Asia to present the Qur'anic commentary to countless people.

Allama Sayedee visited several foreign countries for multiple purposes including performing Hajj and Umrah, Tafsirul Quran event, seminar, symposium and also in the invitation of the Bangladeshi communities of various countries. He also visited lots of nations as the guest of the state.
Delawar Hossain Sayedee, a renowned preacher and orator, passed away at 8:40 pm on August 14 of 2023 at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). May Allah (SW) grant him the highest Paradise (Jannat). Ameen.
