As editor of our commodities and food reporting services Neil has had a huge impact on our business for over 20 years. His unrivalled journalism powered by expertise and enthusiasm will certainly be missed by colleagues, clients and industry contacts alike, all relished the passion and enthusiasm he brought along with great knowledge and humour that made every conversation a pleasure.
But Neil’s true legacy is with the many recruits he took under his wing as their first job and nurtured them into market reporters who understood their market and valued delivering insight and value to our subscribers. He has started many a career and for those that worked with him he will leave an enormous gap.
Sometimes frustrating for management, but always passionate about what he did and entertaining in the way he did it. I loved working with Neil, as the clock struck 5pm he’d wander across, pulling on his motorcycle jacket and we’d chew over important matters such as chicken keeping, beard growing or carburetor tuning and suddenly the world would seem a better place. I will remember him very fondly.
