Dear All, As you know, our beloved Aai left for the heavenly abode on 8th October 2025. Coming from a small village - she indeed came a long way living across different countries and playing a diverse set of roles so very elegantly in her lifetime. After meeting all the family and friends and visiting our ancestral temples in Goa, she passed away peacefully in her sleep. We cannot thank God Almighty enough for blessing her with such a serene departure from this planet. She possessed innumerable qualities and always believed in managing her own tasks without seeking any help from anyone and that was also evident when she breathed her last. We would refrain from saying that she will be dearly missed as “she continues to live on in every single breath of ours”. We humbly request that you write your memories and upload any pictures of Mina Deshpande to celebrate her life and times. Kindly avoid writing anything about her bereavement. Thank You Sanjay, Chitra, Kamal, Vinay, Angad, Simran, & Shloka (Baba also joins us in requesting your support)

Only Sister and Our Only Atya... She is and will always remain special to me... My professional journey started in year 2007 in Gurgaon. One thing which I remember even today is I visited her Noida home " Aashirwad" nearly about a month after I joined my company which was in Manesar. I clearly remember the Sea food she had cooked specially for me. Because of her, feeling of being with family was always there. There are many such memories which will be really difficult to put in words. She was always kind, warm, and full of love. Her blessings and good wishes will stay with us forever. It’s hard to put into words the loss we feel with the passing of our beloved Meena Atya. She was warmth, comfort, and family, especially for Sanjana and I living so far away from home. From the very beginning, she made me and Sanjana feel like we belonged here in Canada. She never missed a chance to check in on me, always making sure we were doing okay. That kind of love is rare, and we were so lucky to have it. I’ll always cherish the Diwali spent with her, Sanju dada and family. Her rava ladoos were unbeatable, but more than that, it was her presence that made everything feel special. She was the closest family we had here in Canada, and her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. She will be dearly missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

Meenakaki was very special in my life. Meenakaki encouraged our gatherings with Ashokkaka, Chitra & Sanjay almost every weekend. She loved to watch movies with us at Bahaar & Shaan cinemas. Diwali celebrations at Revdanda household were a dream. Lots of fire crackers, sweets and cousins to play with. It was sad for us when they moved to Bhopal. But she made sure that we all met again with trips to Indore, Ujjain and surroundings. Ashokkaka was anxious in planning these trips, but Meenakaki was confident and firm. The noida house was a dream come true for her. We were thrilled when Meenakai & family visited our London house. Meenakai was a lady of few words, keen listener and always gave sound advise. She was one of the great pillars to keep the Deshpande family together. We will miss her in all walks of life. Om Shanti

मीना काकी टोरोंटोला असताना आमचे भरपूर बोलणे व्हायचे,तिच्या गप्पा असायच्या,आणि आठवणी ती सांगायची.माझ्या रोजच्या जीवनातल्या गोष्टी,आठवणी,गंमतीशीर प्रसंग मी वर्णन करायचे.ती पण दिलखुलास हसायची,बोलायची.तिच्या मोहक स्मित हास्यात,आणि त्या सुंदर डोळ्यात खूप काही सामावलेले होते.१४ एप्रिल २०२५ ला पुण्यात DSK विश्व,मध्ये मीना काकी,अशोक काका,श्लोका,चित्रा ह्यांची भेट झाली,गप्पा झाल्या होत्या.कॅनडाला आणि पुण्याला घेतलेली काही अशी मीना काकी बरोबर घेतलेली क्षणचित्रे,येथे जोडत आहे.तिची ही स्मृतिचित्रे येथे आहेतच पण माझ्या मनात कायम घर करून राहतील! - मीना काकीची मोनू

आमची मीना काकी आज आमच्या सोबत नाही,ही बातमी किती तरी वेळ लागला मला समजून घ्यायला.पहिले ऐकून खरेच वाटेना,तिचा आवाज,निखळ हसणे,आता ऐकू येणार नाही, ती आपल्याला कधीच दिसणार नाही,हे जाणवल्यावर,डोळे भरून आले!मीना काकी,माझे,संजय चित्रा इतकेच,लाड करायची.उत्तम पदार्थ बनविणे आणि मायेने खाऊ घालणे हे तिचे,मला आठवते.तिने तिच्या कृतीतून आम्हाला बरेच काही शिकवले.काकीचा कामाचा उरक प्रचंड होता,कामे वेळेत करण्याकडे काटेकोर लक्ष असे.साधेपणा तिच्या स्वभावात होता.घर अतिशय स्वच्छ,सुंदर,नेटके ती ठेवत असे,आणि इतरांनीही तसेच ठेवावे हा कटाक्ष होता.इतके दुसऱ्यांसाठी करूनही कधीच ती बोलून दाखवत नसे.मोठ्या मनाची माझी काकी आजही माझ्या जवळ आहे,अगदी जवळ! तिच्या आठवणी सदैव जिवंत राहतील!माझ्या बालपणीच्या काळात सुटीतील काकीच्या सोबतच्या खूप आठवणी आहेत. कॉलेज मधील दिवसांमध्ये मी दिल्लीला गेले होते तो माझा तिच्या सोबतचा सर्वात मोठा स्टे होता.एरवी लहानपणी दिवाळी,आणि उन्हाळ्याच्या सुटीत ती रेवदंड्याला यायची.मला तिचे जवळ घेणे आठवते.आणि धाक तोही आठवतो.आम्ही मस्ती करू नये ह्यासाठी ती संजय आणि मला काळजीपोटी,सांगत असे.पण कुठेतरी हेच वय दंगा मस्ती करण्याचे असते,हेही तिला पटत असायचे,मग थोडी सूट मिळायची.तिचे रागे भरणे, तो लटका राग आजही आठवतो. मराठी ही मीना काकीची आवडती भाषा आणि माझीही,त्यामुळे काकी साठी मी हे मराठीत लिहित आहे.काकी तू ,आम्हा सर्वांची आवडती होतीस.तुझ्या अचानक जाण्याने आम्हा सर्वांना खूप वाईट वाटतं आहे.तू नसलीस तरी तुझे स्थान,आम्हा सर्वांच्या,सचिन देवश्री आणि माझ्या मनात कायम राहील! -तुझी मोनू

I had the pleasure of meeting Aunty in Noida in 2001 after I married Rajeev. We met her again at Angad’s first birthday and at that time I was expecting. She was so happy to see me and truly excited to hear the news. After we moved to Canada, we were lucky to meet her again. Our children Aryan and Anushka and both of us feel very blessed to have had her as a part of our lives. She was always kind, warm, and full of love. Her blessings and good wishes will stay with us forever. She will always be remembered with love and will live on in our hearts through the sweet memories she left behind.

Today as I pen my thoughts , it fills my heart with numerous beautiful memories of our beloved Meena kaki. Sharing this precious picture from one of our memorable trips to Nainital . Growing up me and Pushkar use to spend a significant time of our vacations in Delhi with Ashok kaka, Meena kaki , Chittal tai and Sanju dada. Our stays use to be full of fun , laughter , traveling to different places . But the highlight of the trip use to be Meena kaki’s delicious food. My mouth still waters thinking about her Masoor amti, fish curries , Diwali faral . She was a very organized lady .she never missed her morning skin routine with vicco turmeric. I use to love that smell and ask her “Kaki hey Kay aahe . Kiti chaan vaas aahe”. Me and Pushkar are really blessed to be a part of this wonderful family where our kaka kaki loved and pampered us like their own kids . My Aai was very close to Meena kaki . They were friends more than co sisters . We all will miss you a lot Kaki . Love you ♥️

A Tribute to Auntie Trying to capture my life experiences with Auntie in a few words feels impossible. She was, and still is, a guiding presence in my life—someone whose support I could feel even in silence. Her bright smile, always tucked behind those watchful eyes, is etched in my memory. Auntie lived simply, without fanfare or fuss. But in that simplicity was a depth of love and grace that touched everyone who knew her. And her food… oh, her food! It was spicy (at least for me), but always delicious. Every dish had a story, a memory, a pinch of love. It’s hard to put into words what Meena Atya meant to me. She wasn’t just my aunt, she was a source of warmth, reassurance, and quiet strength. From the time I was little, there was a certain comfort in her presence, the kind that made every gathering brighter and every conversation lighter. She had this beautiful way of making everyone feel special, as if you were the only person in the room when she spoke to you. No matter how much time passed between our meetings, she always picked up right where we left off, with that same affection, curiosity, and laughter that made me feel like a child again. I can still hear her voice, filled with kindness and that unmistakable warmth that was so uniquely hers. What I will always cherish most are the small, ordinary moments & her gentle teasing. People like her leave an imprint that time can’t erase. Even though she is no longer with us in person, her memories live on, in her kindness, in the stories we share, and in the love she gave so freely. She will always be remembered, not just as a beloved Atya, but as a beautiful soul who touched all our lives in her own quiet, special way.

Being the only "atya" among a family of ten siblings, Meena Atya always held a very special place in my heart. Since my childhood, I was extremely fond of her and eagerly looked forward to meeting her at every family gathering. Though I wish I could have spent more time with her, the moments we did share remain deeply cherished. She was always genuinely interested in knowing how things were with me — right from my school days and sports, to my career and business later in life. That compassion, humility, and her ever-radiant smile are impossible to forget. I still remember one special incident when I had work in Delhi. Once my meetings were done, I couldn’t resist going to Noida to meet her, completely unannounced. It was my second visit there — once as a child, and now as an adult. The sheer joy and surprise on her face were unforgettable. Despite the impromptu visit, she welcomed me and my two colleagues with unmatched warmth, ensuring we were well fed and comfortable. That evening was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and her stories about my childhood - which left my colleagues amused and me a bit embarrassed, but so happy to relive those memories. They later told me how touched they were by the bond we shared. That was truly who she was - full of grace, affection, and a deep sense of care for everyone around her and that's how she continues to live on in our hearts and memories. - Panna

BHEL कॉलनी चे दिवस आठवले .देशपांडे वाहिनी चे आणि माझे किती छान, प्रेमळ संबंध होते. मी वयाने, त्यांच्या पेक्षा किती तरी लहान असूनही, मला त्यांनी नेहमी एका मैत्रिणी सारखे च समझले . एक अगदी जवळ चे, प्रेमळ व्यक्तिमत्व,आज आपल्या मध्ये नाहीय, याची उणीव सदैव भासेल. चित्रा, तुझ्याशी व संजय शी बोलून खूप छान वाटलं. तीच आपुलकी, तीच 'मावशी' म्हणून तुझी हाक, तसेच आमच्या सर्वांच्या-विशेषतः प्राची -पूर्वा संबंधी विस्तृत विचारपूस...जणू वहिनींची ची छबी तुम्हां दोघां मध्ये जाणवली. तुम्ही दोघांनी आपलेपणा ची जाणीव जिवंत करून दिली. एका अत्यंत प्रेमळ व्यक्तिमत्वाच्या अनेक आठवणी, एक एक करून डोळ्या समोर येत आहेत. आम्ही सर्व त्यांच्या मोठेपणा समोर नतमस्तक आहोत. परमेश्वरास ही प्रार्थना करतो कि अश्या पुण्यात्म्याला ला चिर शांति व सद्गती देवो तसेच तुम्हा सर्वांना या दुःखद परिस्थिती ला सहन करण्याची शक्ती देवो... वेळ असता, सवडी प्रमाणे- आमच्या शी संपर्क ठेवल्यास आम्हाला फार बरे वाटेल.. सौ. वंदना व सुधीर खांडेकर, मुकाम नोएडा (उत्तर प्रदेश)

My kaki Meena kaki was one of my closest kaki. She has actually taken a good care of me and my sister when she use to live for a short period in Mumbai. Her smiling nature was something who no one will forget. Meena kaki has seen me grow and will always cherish the food she made for us There is a sabzi which she use to make specially for me and that was (peeth perun bhaji). That taste lasted with me for all this time. Meena kaki took very good care of her family and relatives There are so many memories which I would like to tell. I have been connected with Auntie for the last 33 years including the past 12 years in Canada. From my Grade 12 result to our son Aryan’s university graduation. We have received endless showers of love and blessings from her. We share thousands of sweet memories with Auntie, but I can never forget one winter afternoon in 1992, when I was working with Sanjay on a joint project for a computer course at their home in Sector 17, Noida. As was customary in the Deshpande family, I was invited to join them at the dining table. There were a few vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes on the table. Having been raised in a vegetarian family, I was always curious to try non-vegetarian food. Sanjay offered me a piece of fish, but Auntie stopped him and took a moment to carefully select a boneless piece for me. Her intention was to make sure I enjoyed my very first bite of fish safely, just like a mother who lovingly chooses the best food for her child. I will continue to share the beautiful memories we have of her with Sanjay, Harkamal, Angad, and Simran. Love, Rajeev
