I have know Karsten for so long, over 20 years, that I do not remember when we first met. I looked forward to our time together when I traveled to Germany or he traveled to the US. He was extremely technically competent, had a great sense of humor, and willing to jump into new areas. One of the things I remember most is that he had a real gift of injecting a piece of humor at just the right time to keep everything from getting to serious. I will also miss him on our many Team meeting. On behalf of the entire US team I wish to express our deepest condolences to his family, he was a truly on of the good guys and had many friends all over the world.
