What a wonderful lady Mrs Ravenscroft was! I remember when I first met her, asking to look around St Aidans to see if it would be suitable for my daughter. She welcomed me in, amongst the chaos of preparations for the Christmas fair that day, not trying to hide anything or pretend the school was all neat and tidy and perfect. I saw the school as it was, open, honest, caring, fun and full of love (exemplified by the way the pupils faces lit up when they saw her as she showed me round). And Mrs Ravenscroft was all that is good about St Aidans, she led by example and treated everyone as her own family, knowing all the pupils and their parents by name. She valued the opinion of others and I felt honoured to be invited in repeatedly to run short talks in lessons, wildlife walks and afterschool science clubs (which Melanie stayed late to help me out with when needed). She gave her all to the school and was not just a colleague and leader to the staff, but a great friend too. She has left us too soon, but I know her legacy will live on in the lives of all those she met and I'm so glad we were a part of the family of St Aidans. Mrs Ravenscroft helped shape my daughter into a the lovely girl she is today, and I will be forever grateful. My lasting memory of her will be the happy smile she greeted everyone with at the school gates in the morning and evening, plus the sheer joy when St Aidans won Most Inspirational School Award. A most Inspirational School, lead by a most Inspirational Lady. Shine brightly from your new Home, beautiful Soul.
