I worked with Mark on the Victoria Line Upgrade and soon found he was one of the nicest of people to work with. He always listened and carefully considered what you said and then pointed out the issues he had that needed resolving. He was in essence a scholar and a gent, intelligent, up for a discussion and oh so gentle in his approach. His sense of fun and mischief also helped immensely in any issue I wanted to review with him. I think he trusted people a lot and allowed them their heads to see how they got on, rare in management. I wish I’d known him better and would have enjoyed working with him again. I can see he was much loved and why he will be missed. Rest in peace Mark and my deepest sympathies for the loved ones you left behind.
