Margaret Thrower was born Margaret Tredwell in Birmingham. She was the widow of Eric Thrower, Mum to Linda, Steve and Jo, Grandma to Sam, Kate, Joel and Tom, sister to Andrew and a good friend to many. Throughout her years she travelled widely, met lots of people and loved life. She was involved in lots of things in her local community, including the National Trust, the Emmanuel Church and the League of Friends Chaplaincy at her local hospital. In short a real ‘doer’! She passed away suddenly after a stroke and the current situation in the UK means many cannot attend her funeral. A memorial service will be arranged when this is possible for people to attend.

Posted on behalf of Diana, Jackie and Mary:- We first knew Margaret many years ago when we were volunteers at Baddesley Clinton and have met regularly since, either at the Kings Court, where we enjoyed great fellowship together, as well as good food and at the Hippodrome for shows and ballet performances - Margaret always arranged our venues. She was very special with her positiveness and sense of humour - and always smartly dressed. We all have many happy memories of Margaret - but she will be greatly missed by us all. From friends - Diana, Jackie and Mary.

So sad to hear of Margaret's death. She was a lovely, friendly and energetic lady, who I new through my mother Doris Hill. She knew Doris through church and took the trouble to visit her frequently when she lived alone, and later when she moved into a care home. Even Margaret had various ailments, it was never too much trouble to find time to visit every few weeks, and update on church and other matters. When my mother became very ill, we shared time together in Doris's room, and sometimes Doris slept through it all. But Margaret still visited her and brought a smile to her face when not much did. It was a shock to hear of Margaret's sudden death. I only spoke with her two weeks before she died. Having known her since I was a child she has always been a warm and caring cousin. She kept in touch with my Mom and Dad and had some happy times with them. My dad was her dad's brother and up until recently has always visited my 100 year old mother who always enjoyed her visits as did many on the hospital wards. She was a good, kind and caring person who will be sorely missed. Love from Hilary

Margaret my lovely niece and my bridesmaid you will be so sadly missed. I loved having you here every year for a holiday and it was fun trying to think of exciting things to do. From Lynda --- Margaret was a great sister-in-law. I always admired how she got on with life and made the most of what she had. She appreciated and enjoyed so many things in life and, often, events, visits and family occasions etc. were related beautifully via letters and postcards to us - the Australian branch of her family. In more recent years, she and I had chats on the phone - one of our favourite topics being politics! A particularly great memory for me was when Margaret took me on a visit to Edinburgh on my last visit to the UK. Who else could get excited with me - sitting in the Scottish Parliament or visiting the Royal Yacht Brittania? I am thankful for Margaret's life and her part in mine. Rest in Peace Margaret

We were so surprised and very sad at the news about Margaret, especially as she had visited us on the Isle of Wight late last year. She was her usual bubbly self, full of fun and bringing pictures of her family most of which Sue had not seen before. We now have a copy of the Tredwell family with Bert (mike's dad) and Bill (Margaret's dad) as children with the rest of the siblings. We will treasure it. Margaret was elegant, very warm and generous. We will miss her as will Mike's mother whom Margaret visited regularly.

From Andrew ---My first memories of Margaret (Sis) are of her looking after me - she the big sister and me the pesky little brother (Bruv). She was like a second Mom to me. Margaret had problems with her health in childhood and these and other difficulties in life she overcame with her strong spirit. Margaret was a good mother, daughter, sister and wife, as well as a good friend and colleague to many. In later years Margaret made more friends through her community work. Although Lynda (my wife) and I moved to Australia over 50 years ago, we had always kept in close touch with Margaret and enjoyed some visits. I will really miss her and our chats and laughs on the phone. Margaret's loving Bruv, Andrew.

Margaret always came on the ward with a smile. she always had time to chat, she was so kind even bringing me shorties one day because we had been talking about them. she lifted sprits even on a busy day. thank you Margaret for your smile and friendship. love Julia

Such lovely memories of Margaret when we were growing up. We all lived at Fladbury Close and spent many hours in each other’s houses and Margaret looked after us girls so well. My Mum Jean is terribly upset hearing of her passing, it seems they were at Open Air School many years ago together but didn’t actually know each other then. How lovely that they ended up living so close to each other years later and their children became good friends. Margaret also took the time to visit my own Mum in hospital years later in her volunteering role, such a special lady with a kind heart. Thank you Margaret and may you rest in peace with Eric now, with love from Lesley & Ian and Jean & Gordon, God Bless xxxx

Aunt Margaret was a true lady. Like a serene swan, she had a quiet elegance yet like the swan paddling away Margaret was so very capable & organised. Her sudden passing has been a great shock but in its own way again typifies Margaret, who always just got on with all life threw her way. She made a success of all she did. We will remember her fondly.
