My first memory of meeting Malcolm was when I was a fresh faced 1st year dental student back in 2007. I'd come to Dundee University from Northern Ireland & started attending CBC regularly. I think it was possibly only a month into my time in Dundee that Malcolm & Barbara had me out to their house with another student for Sunday lunch. They were the first family to welcome me into their home & it was such a lovely change from student halls! They welcomed me like I was family! After we'd had lunch Malcolm&Barbara took us for a drive along the front at Broughty Ferry to show us the beach& sea. Malcolm was explaining that in the summer months you could see dolphins but this being October you were unlikely to see any. I eagerly stared out the car window to see if I could spot any... and I couldn't believe it when I did! Malcolm pulled the car over and we all got out & stood on Broughty Ferry beach watching the dolphin. Malcolm was a compete gentleman- always a smile, joke, word of encouragement whenever you saw him. He was so faithful in service- many a church conference he would be standing in his high vis waterproofs manning the car park with his cheerful smile&wave even in the pouring rain. I'll also never forget what an encourager he was, he'd always come up at the end of the service & thank the praise band for the music, which he loved. It was thanks to him&Barbara that I became a member of the praise group @ CBC.
Thank you for letting us share with you in the wonderful service of thanksgiving this morning, we are going to miss Malcolm so much. Continuing to hold you all in our thoughts & prayers. The Blair family
