It was great to visit Marielle early October, even knowing it was a sad farewell. I got to know Marielle when she joined the staff of RUAF at that time being hosted by ETC Foundation. I remember that she asked me how to deal with the often busy and stressful agenda. I advised her not to believe this to go away since professionals like her are extremely committed to their work. For me Marielle was an enormous passioned professional. She was so dedicated to RUAF and able to work in a very concentrated and productive way. The best way is to accept the always full agenda and find a balance. Marielle found the compensation by living reclusive and enjoying her wonderful home in France.
Early 2018 (when I was chair of the RUAF Board) Marielle expressed that she would like to focus more on the content and the partners of RUAF and less on management. Parallel the RUAF team and partners decided that hosting the secretariat by another organization would be a more promising and efficient model. Starting to develop this new model, Marielle ended up ill again. While struggling with the cancer she kept on giving her views and inputs, being committed as ever. It is a great misfortune that she cannot continue to live her dream of RUAF. I will sincerely miss her intelligence, enthusiasm and friendship. I wish peace to Guido and family.
