I was so shocked and saddened to hear this terrible news. Marielle was such a wonderful colleague at UMP in Quito, always so invested in and passionate about urban agriculture. I'll never forget her putting bottles in the toilets so we could collect our pee to feed the vegetable garden she'd installed on the roof of the office!! - she always practiced ever she preached. But we shared even more happy times outside the office, on adventures throughout Ecuador or at the wonderful home she and Guido shared in rural Tumbaco, complete with Chimbo the incredible dog and lots of other animals. I always thought we'd stay in touch throughout our lives, wherever our work and families took us, and have thought of Marielle and Guido often throughout the years. I always thought one day we'd meet together at some kind of UMP reunion. It is very sad that there will be an empty chair at that table when we all do finally meet, but I am sure we will all share the very fond memories of our fun-loving, dedicated, passionate colleague and friend, Marielle. Guido, sending you lots of love from Scotland.
