I met dear Laleh around 25 years ago. We were both working at the Programme Unit. She had arrived from abroad and was writing her first project document at UNDP introducing the Small Grants Programme, a new phenomenon for the office. I remember that she stayed long hours after office hours, working on her document. I was a Programme Assistant and asked her from time to time how it was going. She would always smile saying it is working. From our first conversation, I realized how calm, patient and sweet she was. Later I learnt that her project was a great success to the women living in the Persian Gulf, and I would say to all the people and this country. Laleh was so dedicated to her work and her nation, always working very conscientiously, eagerly and with love.
Two years ago I talked with her for the last time, I think she was in Canada. We had such a pleasant conversation, of course as usual, knowing her. I enjoyed very much hearing her and speaking with her.
Her departure from this planet is truly a great loss for her family, friends, colleagues and everyone who knew her.
I wish patience for her dear family.
She is now in peace.
With love to Laleh,
