April 24, 2020 - April 24, 2020

John Gardiner, ANSTO's Property Manager based at Lucas Heights, sadly passed away on Friday 24 April, 2020. This news will come as a shock to many who worked with John and it’s a significant loss to the ANSTO community. During his time at ANSTO, John made a significant contribution working on major projects including the Innovation Precinct, as well as NMI and CSIRO matters. John contributed greatly to the development of all ANSTO’s campuses. As property manager, John was the face of ANSTO among the tenants, building strong relationships with all. Many of them have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and John had been working with them to provide support in recent weeks. Due to COVID-19 there are modifications to funeral gatherings so please share your memories and pass on your condolences to John's family. John was liked by many across ANSTO. He was the absolute professional and highly regarded for his composed nature and thoughtfulness. He was a valued ANSTO senior manager and will be greatly missed.

Such a sad loss.We had the honour of working on committee and socialising with John through our years at 1st Wearne Bay Scouts. From Camp Coutts camps to family camps, Bunnings BBQs to working bees. Always a pleasure to be around. He worked very hard to keep our group going. A great Treasurer even when our funds were low we always found a way to all have a laugh in our committee meetings whilst making the next plans to keep the group going forward. We kept that ship sailing. No sea too tough. John will be sadly missed and I know anyone who had the pleasure of John's friendship will be hurting at his departure at such a young age. Still so much to give. Sending love to his family and other friends and so sorry we cant attend his final send off to honour such a great man. Cheers John. Raise that coffee mug filled with red cordial!!!!
