I worked with Jim for seven years over two spells, once as a colleague and latterly as his manager. I was so pleased to discover he was part of the team on my first day back at SLC! Jim was always trying to learn something new and do things better. You would know when he was on the bus to work when the messages with links to articles of ideas for improvement would start arriving, any time from 6:30am! Jim would make time for anyone and, despite his many jokes about being grumpy, was always willing to help others with problems and to learn something new. He had a great dry sense of humour and was always talking about his daughter Emma and, more recently, their dog Pip and her latest trail of destruction. Jim was a very funny and kind man who will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathies to Aileen, Emma and all of Jim's family.
