6/27 National PTSD Awareness Day. The month of June is PTSD Awareness month. PTSD, a complex disorder caused by experiencing or witnessing trauma. The trauma necessary to cause PTSD can originate from many events — potentially an accident or an assault — but there are other ways PTSD symptoms can arise. Hana had multiple situations that caused trauma for her and we’re only magnified by the continual fight for marginalized people. Hana gave so much of herself to fighting injustice and systemic racism and working to encourage others to be their best self. I wish Hana would have found the help she needed for her trauma. Therapy wouldn’t have changed the injustice in the world but may have helped her cope enough to still be here. In heaven you are no longer in pain. I love you Hana. Selfishly I wish you were still here with me. I miss you baby girl.
