This page has been set up for all those who grieved loved ones during #Partygate, to share their experiences. Ruby Fuller died of cancer, aged 18, on 15 May 2020, the day of the Number 10 cheese and wine party. She couldn't see her friends or extended family in the weeks before she died. Isaac was 19 and literally living his best life at Durham Uni. Unfortunately his beautiful, kind heart stopped beating unexpectedly on 13 Jan 2021. On 14 Jan, I spent the day begging strangers on the phone for permission to break quarantine so I could go to kiss his beautiful face one last time in the Chapel of Rest. Meanwhile in Downing St that same day was a party, one investigated by the Met Police. Every time I hear that date mentioned, it twists the knife a little more. Everything about partygate is like a slap in the face. I don't need an investigation to tell me whether Isaac got the send off he deserved, he didn't. Only 30 people could attend, and we didn't try to squeeze more in because not only did we think the rules applied to everyone, we wanted to keep people safe. In my grief and despair, I hugged some friends who stood outside of the church on that cold January day. I felt guilty for weeks that I may have caused harm. The fact that during this time, 10 Downing Street was party central is beyond insulting. It's not "fluff". Livid doesn't even come close. How CAN I move on? Love you my padawan.

When Covid-19 began appearing on the news, Fred was six months into his treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. His cancer had not responded to chemotherapy, and he was waiting to receive Car T Cell therapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital. While our friends panicked over loo roll and wrestled with Joe Wicks and fronted adverbials, we tried to make sense of how these lockdown rules could possibly apply to us. We ran through the hospital equivalent of the fox, the chicken and the bag of grain as we tried to work out how we could be a family when our younger son was no longer allowed in the hospital. The visitors, the communal areas, the school teachers, the youth workers, all no longer allowed on the ward. Even the parents’ accommodation at the hospital closed. Fred died in ICU on 3 May last year. His funeral took place on 14th May, the day before the Government sat enjoying cheese and wine in the Downing Street garden. Ten people were allowed to attend an outdoor burial in our village churchyard. However, people lined the streets as his motorbike hearse drove through the village. His little brother and a group of his friends rode their bikes behind him, and messages and memories were hung on the tree outside our house. Food was left on our doorstep, we were overwhelmed with cards, but people had to watch from afar. Grief is a lonely place at the best of times, but even more so when it’s illegal for people to hug you.

Isabel McEgan was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cancer in July 2019, while working at a Girl Scout Camp for Camp America in Pennsylvania. By the time of the first lockdown, 8 months later, she was receiving nutrition via a PICC line. To enable her to stay safe, her dad and I trained to administer this ourselves, so she could stay at home and not risk being within a hospital environment. During the first 8 weeks, she saw no one - not even her beloved sister, other family or her friends. A tumour in her jaw meant it became increasingly difficult for her to speak, so even phone calls/facetime were not an option. In May 2020, her condition deteriorated very rapidly. We were heartbroken to see our beautiful Izzy fading, and this was compounded by her fear that she would end up dying alone, in hospital. The best case scenario was that one of us would be allowed to be with her - but how could we choose? Our local children's hospice, Claire House, stepped in and offered end of life care at home. On the 10th May, Isabel died peacefully, in her own bed, while I held her hand and told her how much I loved her. At the same time, Boris and his staff were holding a cheese and wine evening, - a reward after working such long hours. Next, while Boris respectfully decided that it was appropriate to have a few drinks with colleagues as a farewell to a member of staff just changing jobs, we tried to decide which 10 people we could invite to attend Isabel's funeral - her final farewell to a life well lived. Her family? Godparents? Her friends from school? From Liverpool University? From her job at TK Maxx? Maybe from Girlguiding, where she'd progressed to a young leader? No. None of these were allowed. In the end, we travelled miles to the next county, as their rules allowed 18 people inside the crematorium - rather than just 10. Inside the room itself, our 18 chairs were socially distanced - I wasn't allowed to sit next to my husband, Izzy's dad, or hold the hand of my bereaved daughter Eleanor, who'd lost her only, beloved sister. We couldn't hug the many friends who gathered respectfully outside the service, nor hold a celebration to share memories. I will remember Isabel for the wonderful, kind, caring girl she was. She had principles. She cared strongly about others and gave and received so much love in her short life. She is a huge loss to ourselves and to the world she could have changed for the better. I'm not moving on. Not until we see a democracy restored to this country. In a world where you can be anything, #beemoreIzzy (not more Boris).

Ruby died of leukaemia on 15 May 2020, the day of the Number 10 cheese & wine party. The UK was under strict lockdown and Ruby was unable to see anyone other than her immediate family (parents and sister) and medical professionals in the weeks leading up to her death. Her friends, grandparents and cousins had to say good-bye over Zoom. She believed in calling out injustice - hence her motto 'Live Kindly Live Loudly' - and she'd be so bad at Boris Johnson's behaviour during lockdown.
