I remember Gabriel as a humble man. A people’s person. Always surrounded by friends. On top of that, increadibly reliable. I know for a fact that he was very close to some of you. My sincere condolences.
I have a couple of anecdotes of him, that might reflect the kind of person he was:
One was when it came to ops management attention that a certain person was processing cases ultra-fast; we of course needed to dive in and see if the work was done correctly (it was just too fast to be true). We then realized that the QA wasn’t compromised (in fact was above expected), we looked at each other surprised and said, this guy is a machine! I guess he was in a hurry without realizing it. I like to think that he made the most out of his time in everything else he did, and moments he lived through.
The other one was when we first heard about his sickness, and we called him trying to give support in the next steps. He was thankful and positive about the whole thing. His attitude was outstanding. Always looking forward, expecting the best…
I am happy to know that he spent his last days back home, with his close ones.
He certainly leaves a mark in the team and will be missed…
