Ernie Montero

January 2, 1959 - December 29, 2020

Ernie was one of the most caring, selfless and knowledgeable people you could ever meet, and he could never do enough for you. His passion for music & sound was evident in all he did, as was his generous and kind nature. He imparted countless amounts of knowledge on colleagues and students alike and his face lit up when he was sharing his pearls of wisdom and seeing people grasp it. A dear friend, colleague and wonderful human being.

Ernie was a ridiculously patient man and extremely passionate and knowledgable about anything he put his mind to. In the 4-5 years i attended the College I spent a great deal of time talking to ernie. Admittedly 90% was about something else rather than actual college work, and it always came back to roman history (all roads lead to rome!). I know Ernie had a never ending supply of items to repair in some shape-or-manner but you could see his love for getting things back in use (and the insane level of skill and speed at which he did so). I am positive we all have a cable somewhere soldered by Ernie. My favourite memory of Ernie is repeating interaction that, In spite of the clear valley of experience and know-how, he always treated you as an equal and with exceptional attention to fixing or assisting where ever capable. As i am sure anyone who met him is, I am greatly saddened and will miss speaking to him. I am forever grateful I was able to know him feel blessed to have spent the time i did speaking and learning from him. Just like Rome, Ernie will never fall and his influence and passion is most definitely passed to all those who he worked with and taught. magister dixit
