Virginia D. Dodson, 80, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at LifeCare Hospital in West Chester, PA after a year-and-a-half battle with chronic illness. In addition to her parents, Robert D. and Maggie R. Dodson; Virginia was preceded in death by her sister Jean Dodson; three brothers Clyde J. Dodson, Sr., Anthony Dodson, and Wayne Dodson; and a niece Katrina Y. Hayes.
Virginia was a member of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church in Ridgeway, VA where she maintained her membership permanently. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and partner. She was one of the kindest, most caring and generous people ever---always giving to others whose loving spirit will be greatly missed.
Virginia attended the public schools in Henry County, Virginia where she graduated as valedictorian of her class from George Washington Carver High School in Fieldale, Va. in 1958 earning a full college scholarship. After high school she attended Virginia Union University in Richmond, Va. where in 1962 she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. After graduation she became employed at the university and worked there until 1968. After leaving Virginia Union University, she attended New York University in New York, New York where she obtained a Master of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance. She then worked at several corporations in New York finally settling at Morgan Schiff---an investment brokerage firm---as Operations/Financial Manager. She remained employed there until retirement in 2010. Since 2010, she lived at her home in Glen Mills, Pa.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory: her life partner James E. Perry of Glen Mills, PA.; one brother, Larry D. Dodson, Sr. (wife Marie) of Stoneville, NC.; two sisters, Geneva A. Turner (husband Linwood) of Silver Spring, MD.; and Clara M. Hayes (husband Stafford) of Ridgeway, VA.; two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
